senatus populusque romanus
The year 40 BC, and the Roman Republic has very much made its place in the world. With lands stretching far beyond the borders of Italy, it's no doubt it'll become the next superpower of the Mediterranean.
But oh, that's such a trivial, human issue.
You see, when the Romans conquered their neighbours, and their neighbours neoighbours, they happened to pick up a few bits and pieces of culture - and not all culture is just pots and paintings. Everywhere has its own mythology, its own folklore, and unbeknownst to the normal, everyday citizens, those beings of imagination are anything but. And they've all been attracted to Rome like flies to honey.
And who wouldn't be? The city's bustling, busy, ever so alive; filled with malleable minds of devotion, as well as those eager to worship the latest foreign fad. A being with the right kind of work ethic can really make a name for themselves in a place like this.
